Andreas Fogarasi: Iron City
Massimo Ligreggi – Catania, Italy
MAR 29, 2025 – MAY 29, 2025
Each state, each city, has its own cultural and historical identity which is inevitably reflected in the type of construction carried out in the past and present. Mapping the city becomes a mapping of identities, of political and sociological processes. How much of the past and present historical period is reflected in the aesthetic, and not only aesthetic, choice of a given building? Why is a building constructed according to aesthetic standards that vary over time? As a field researcher, Fogarasi explores the mechanisms by which architecture and public space are constructed as places of everyday experience and as spaces precisely defined by political, economic and cultural interests. To do this, like an archaeologist, he takes material from his surroundings and uses it with the vocabulary of minimalism, but aspiring to parietal painting.
