DAVID RENGGLI

Fair of Emotions (“Jahrmarkt der Gefühle”) is David Renggli’s new solo exhibition at the Kunst(Zeug)Haus Museum, Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland.

June 4 – August 6, 2023.

Personal expectations and longings, as well as their linguistic communication, are the focus of David Renggli’s exhibition. Dazzling neon signs, grouped in an overall installation, cryptic paintings and a train that keeps rolling in circles: with his new works, Renggli questions the formation and influence of hopes and wishes. Meaningful words like “BUT”, “I’M SORRY” or “SOMETHING” open up incoherently endless fields of association. However, like picture riddles, they can only be deciphered in Renggli’s works from a very specific point of view.

Language is always an important part of Renggli’s work and links the different exhibition areas together. If in the past the artist played with errors in written text, in his new works he now increasingly addresses the theme of language through typography. Walking through the room in search of the meaning of the written word, visitors are invited to reflect on their own ideas and expectations.
