MILLER / WACHHOLZ

2 November — 18 December, 2025
Opening Sunday 2 November 16.00 — 18.00 hrs.

PS projectspace presents the duo show by German artists Gerold Miller and Thomas Wachholz.
Gerold Miller (Altshausen, Germany) studied sculpture at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 1984–1989. He subsequently received scholarships for study visits to Chicago, New York City, Paris and Sydney. He lives in Berlin and Pistoia.
Gerold Miller investigates the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and architecture, creating works with precisely constructed surfaces and a clear system of proportion and repetition that engage with perception and space. Through subtle shifts in scale, form and colour, he shows how minimal changes can alter the overall composition and comprehension. By reducing form to its essentials, Miller develops a visual language that is both rigorous and open to interpretation.
German artist Thomas Wachholz (Cologne, Germany) explores the unseen elements imbued in the formal characteristics of mundane objects. Using the visual style and ideological foundations of Pop Art, Wachholz creates paintings that borrow the visual characteristics of matchboxes and matchbooks as seen here in the work xxx; turned into formal abstract paintings, the paintings ignite ideas imbued with coded meaning. Composed as geometric forms with bright colors and clean lines, the conceptually playful paintings convey relationships between referent and allusion and design and purpose. Wachholz removes information about the original shape and composition, thereby freeing their imagery from their original context and elevating the visual potential of everyday objects. The artist studied under Marcel Odenbach and Katharina Grosse at the Art Academy Düsseldorf.
