KATJA STRUNZ

Katja Strunz participates in a new group exhibition called The New Man, The Announcer, The Constructor. The Lissitzky. It will take place at the prestigious modern art center KestnerGesellschaft in Hannover.

July 8 – Oct. 1, 2023

This exhibition seeks to trace the foundational moments of his avant-garde history and mission. Presented just seven years after its creation in 1916, the exhibition ‘The Lissitzky’ was the Russian artist’s first exhibition, cementing his watershed position as the herald of a new vocabulary that revolutionized the formal language of art as well as his role as the builder of an institutional thinking based on scientific and experiential perception, as well as the openness to innovate from architecture and exhibition mounting strategies and the total understanding of artistic creation.

Conceived as an institutional self-portrait of a prophetic artist, The New Man, the Announcer, the Constructor consists of archival material and historical positions in confrontation with contemporary artists’ deconstructive and revisionist reading of the modernist paradigm.

With the artists: Michelangelo Antonioni, Willi Baumeister, BEASTER, Johanna Billing, Martin Boyce, Max Burchartz, Heinrich Dunst, The Next Enterprise Architects, Fernanda Fragateiro, Assaf Gruber, John Wood and Paul Harrison, Lajos Kassák, Marlena Kudlicka, Marysia Lewandowska, El Lissitzky, Felipe Mujica, László Moholy-Nagy, Paulina Ołowska, László Peri, Prinz Gholam, Florian Pumhösl, Susanne Sachsse, Wieland Schönfelder, Kurt Schwitters, Katja Strunz and Nikolai Michailowitsch Suetin.
