PATRICK HAMILTON

Trabajo en equipo, 30 años del CGAC is the new group exhibition featuring Patrick Hamilton at the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporáneo in Santiago, Galicia, Spain. The exhibition is curated by Santiago Olmo.

11 July 2023 – 07 January 2024

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporáneo (CGAC), two institutions dependent on the Xunta de Galicia, the CGAC itself and the Museo Gaiás de la Ciudad de la Cultura, join forces to celebrate and highlight the transformative importance of the CGAC as a museum, but also, and above all, as the creator, depositary and custodian of the leading public collection of contemporary art in Galicia.

To this end, the Teamwork project is articulated in two complementary but independent exhibitions. On the one hand, the building designed by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira will house the exhibition entitled A possible history of the CGAC, which is conceived as a journey through the exhibitions, activities and publications promoted by the centre since its creation. All this through the milestones and unique pieces that, over three decades, have marked its history and, in parallel, the evolution of the artistic context in Galicia. On the other hand, in the spaces of the Gaiás Museum, the work of Peter Eisenman, the exhibition Contemporary Stories from the CGAC Collection proposes a thematic approach to the present based on the funds of the collection of the centre in Santiago de Compostela.

Patrick Hamilton participates with the work MONUMENT (the invisible hand), 2017. It is a piece made with worker gloves and metal fence (200 x 500 cm).
