Casado Santapau Gallery presents the new exhibition by Léo Fourdrinier.
Léo Fourdrinier (Paris 1992) works at the crossroads of history, archaeology and science, while remai-ning attentive to different forms of knowledge and the way in which they are constructed.Employing sculpture and assemblage, he creates works made up of found, transformed or moulded elements, a mix of fragmented body parts, industrial objects and natural materials.
His work is grounded in the logic of assembly, each form acting as a sign within the larger ensemble.His series Poems Hide Theorems is central to this approach. Its title is borrowed from Gaston Bachelard, who affirmed the complementarity of poetry and scientific research as contributing to understanding the world. This idea runs through the entire series: the sculptures are like visual poems, their heterogenous materials converse in a language that is more sensitive than demonstrative.
Language is present, but indirectly like a structure or a silent grammar.The works combine organic human or animal forms with technical and industrial elements, a juxtaposition that contrasts emotion and rationality, intuition and method. Fourdrinier approaches his materials in the same way as a poet makes use of words, employing repetition, variation and displacement to build upa veritable sculptural lexical field.
Ceramics have now joined the series thereby introducing a more organic, tactile dimension.Once shaped and fired, the clay is paired with steel, aluminium or fragments of objects.Poems Hide Theorems therefore represents a contemporary reflection on the language of forms that focusses on the exact point where art and science stop being in opposition and become a complementary means of interpreting reality. Léo Fourdrinier works at the intersection of history, archaeology, and science, while remaining attentive to diverse forms of knowledge and their construction. Through sculpture and assemblage, he creates works composed of found, transformed, or molded elements—a blend of bodily fragments, industrial objects, and natural materials.
Léo Fourdrinier (París 1992) La práctica de Léo Fourdrinier se sitúa en la intersección de la historia, la arqueología y las ciencias, en una investigación atenta a las formas del conocimiento y a las maneras en que se construyen. Mediante la escultura y el ensamblaje, crea obras compuestas por elementos recuperados, transformados o moldeados, donde confluyen fragmentos del cuerpo, objetos industriales y materiales naturales.
Su obra se basa en una lógica de montaje, donde cada forma actúa como un signo dentro de un todo mayor. La serie Poemas que ocultan teoremas ocupa un lugar central en este enfoque. Su título está tomado de Gaston Bachelard, quien afirmó la complementariedad de la poesía y la investigación científica para comprender el mundo. Esta idea impregna toda la serie: las esculturas funcionan como poemas visuales, donde materiales heterogéneos interactúan entre sí según una sintaxis sensible más que demostrativa.
El lenguaje está presente indirectamente, como una estructura, una gramática silenciosa. Las obras combinan formas orgánicas —humanas o animales— con elementos técnicos o industriales. Esta yuxtaposición crea un espacio de tensión entre emoción y racionalidad, intuición y método. Fourdrinier concibe sus materiales como un poeta usa las palabras: mediante la repetición, la variación y el desplazamiento, constituyendo un auténtico campo léxico escultórico.
La serie se enriquece ahora con obras en cerámica, que introducen una dimensión más orgánica y táctil. La arcilla, modelada y luego cocida, dialoga con el acero, el aluminio o fragmentos de objetos. «Poemas que ocultan teoremas» ofrece así una reflexión contemporánea sobre el lenguaje de las formas, precisamente en el punto donde el arte y la ciencia dejan de oponerse y se convierten en modos complementarios de interpresentación de la realidad.
Léo Fourdrinier trabaja en la intersección de la historia, la arqueología y la ciencia, sin perder de vista las distintas formas de conocimiento y su construcción.
